Injury and 2017
2017 was the year of rebuilding for me, and post Rio I had every intention to recover from a foot fracture and press on for the 2017 world championships in London this August.
The tail end of last year I spent in a moon boot, before having foot surgery in January 2017 this year. After 2 and a half months recovery, I was building a running base and getting back into the swing of things. Two weeks ago, I sustained a knee injury, and coincidentally a new foot injury, so training has come to a screaming halt once more.
I’d be lying if I said it was as simple as that, diagnose the injury, rehab, and move on, but frankly its been nothing but mentally offensive, exhausting, frustrating and tearful. Every athlete’s biggest struggle is keeping themselves fit and injury free, so it makes sense that it can undo us every now an again.
